Position Description Summary/Purpose:
The Network Administrator will maintain a reliable, secure and efficient data communications network. The ideal candidate will be able to deploy, configure, maintain and monitor all active network equipment in order to ensure smooth network operation.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

- Troubleshoots a wide variety of issues using various network and server related troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, PRTG Network Monitor.
- Provides second/third level support to Help Desk.
- Creates, reads and interprets various IT documents using such applications as Visio, Excel, etc.
- Works closely with various groups such as students, staff, management and vendors.
- Evaluates needs and requirements of new hardware and software and communicates results to interested parties.
- Participates in on-call schedule for after hour issues.
- Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.
Other Functions:
- Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
- Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
- Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
Knowledge, Ability and Skill:
- Thorough understanding of network and routing protocols including but not limited to TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, OSPF, SMTP, NFS.
- Knowledge of network security both internally and on the perimeter, prefer knowledge of Palo Alto, Fortinet firewall products and Zero Trust configurations.
- Knowledgeable with HPE networking hardware, software configurations, maintenance and monitoring of switching, routing and Aruba wireless networks
- The ability to work with SAN technologies, prefer HPE hardware experience in both an iSCSI and Fiber Channel environments
- The ability to troubleshoot a wide variety of issues and the ability to use various network and server related troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, PRTG Network Monitor.
- Knowledgeable in VoIP and traditional telephony and related technology such as SIP.
- A working knowledge of MS SQL Server.
- Must be able to time manage more than one project or crisis at a time
- Strong diagnostic, evaluation and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to create, read and interpret various IT documents using such applications as Visio, Excel, etc.
Education, Training and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 2- 3 years of network experience
- Project management experience a plus
