Who we are looking for:
Kootenai Health is seeking a full-time Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our rapidly expanding Women’s and Children’s service line at our regional referral center hospital located in beautiful Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Ideal candidates will have past critical care experience and preferred 3-5 years of NNP experience in Level III or IV NICUs with a strong focus on quality, safety, teamwork and patient satisfaction.
What you can expect:
- Full-time will include working M-F, day shift; no night coverage expectations.
- 14-bed Level III NICU along with a large newborn nursery that can flex up to 18 beds.
- Four neonatologists providing in-house coverage 24/7/365
- Three pediatric hospitalists who cover the nursery
- The team also includes veteran NICU and post-partum nurses, designated RTs, nutritionists, pharmacists, and developmental therapists.
- NNP candidates should be strong in NRP and intubation skills as they will attend all high risk deliveries with our specialized neonatal response (NEST) team.
- NNPs will admit and manage NICU patients in conjunction with the Neonatologist, participate in daily rounds in the NICU and with the OB team, participate in family centered care, and perform procedures expected in the NICU.
- NNPs will also be expected to round on nursery newborns intermittently, the frequency and volume of which will fluctuate depending on the Pediatric Hospitalist’s pediatric floor acuity and volume. Nursery newborns at Kootenai include healthy term newborns, those with minor respiratory issues not requiring oxygen (TTN), hypoglycemia, poor feeding, sepsis evaluations, neonatal withdrawal (Eat Sleep Console), and late preterm newborns between 35-36 6/7wk EGA.
- NNPs will admit, manage, and discharge their nursery newborns independently during their shift, however will always have the Pediatric Hospitalist team at their disposal.
