Neighborhood centers Youth and family support programs are focused and intentional, addressing community needs with proven educational and social program strategies for Elementary youth. Neighborhood centers Youth & family support summer and after school programming provide youth a place to grow through engaging in challenging activities, developing caring relationships, and heading meaningful leadership experiences.
Neighborhood centers offers a wide range of positive youth development enrichment programs and opportunities for youth to develop social and academic skills while also assisting their families with essential needs and support. Neighborhood centers Youth & family supportafter school and summer programs supports youth by providing homework help, enrichment activities, field trips and a host of other beneficial supportive activities in the community room of participants apartment complexes. Neighborhood centers after school and summer programs provide youth a safe place to explore nature, develop new interest, and concur obstacles.
Youth & family support staff identify needs within the community they serve and partners with stakeholders to ensure that our youth and their family's needs are met with quality program supports.
Youth & family support staff are mentors, role models, allies, and tutors for our elementary aged youth in our community. Youth & family support staff run hands on groups and keep elementary youth engaged while having fun and promoting a positive collective community culture.
Attending Neighborhood centers Youth & familyafter school and summer programming program is a choice. Neighborhood youth and families sign up to participate in summer and fall program terms. Our Youth & family support programming looks to support the whole family and includes monthly food shelves, family engagement nights, school supply drives and much more!
We encourage people to apply who have specialized skills that they can teach adolescent youth (ex. dance, music, computer skills, art, sports). Neighborhood centers Youth & family support staff support the youth development coordinator with creating lesson plans and run delegated groups to keep youth learning creatively. The Neighborhood center Youth & family support role is a part-time role from 1-19 hours/week after school hours Monday through Friday.
The YMCA elementary after school and summer program is more than childcare. We are youth and family focused support leaders. 3:00pm-6:30pm with flexibility when needs change

Job Summary:
The Youth Development Staff is responsible for assisting with the designated programs to ensure that the program criteria and objectives are carried out. The incumbent is responsible for implementing curriculum, as assigned. The youth development staff provides a safe, enjoyable experience to all program participants.
2. Essential Functions:
  • Working, as part of a team, to perform program activities as directed by the supervisor.
  • Assist with daily curriculum.
  • Communicate courteously with members and participants.
  • Supervise and engage youth in activities.
  • Maintain a safe environment.
  • Assist in special programs and activities as required by supervisor.

3. Relationships:
This position reports to the Youth Development Coordinator or Program Director. The incumbent interacts regularly with staff, members, and the community. This position requires regular interaction with youth, families, members, and staff from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
4. Qualifications:
Required
  • Must be self-directed, motivated, organized, and creative
  • Ability and interest in working with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Strong communication and mediation skills

5. Work Conditions:
  • Perform all physical aspects of the position, including being mobile, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations.
  • May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions or bodily fluids as part of the environment.
  • Work environments range from quiet work areas to busy, noisy indoor and outdoor spaces with several groups talking amongst themselves concurrently.
  • Must be able to actively participate in youth games/activities.
