Overview: As an independent ContractorCertified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA), you provide healthcare and assistance services to individuals who require care in their homes or healthcare facility settings. Operating as an independent Contractor means you have more control over your work arrangements, including your schedule and client interactions.
Responsibilities:
Personal Care Assistance:
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting based on client preferences and needs.
- Respect the client's preferences and decisions regarding their care.
Health Monitoring:
- Monitor and document any changes in the client's health condition and promptly inform the client or their designated healthcare provider.
- Collaborate with the client and their healthcare team to ensure proper care and medication administration, if applicable.
Supportive Care:
- Provide emotional support, companionship, and social interaction to enhance the client's quality of life.
- Encourage and assist clients with exercises and rehabilitation activities per their preferences and treatment plans.
Nutrition and Hydration:
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding in accordance with the client's dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Maintain records of food and fluid intake as requested by the client or their family.
Cleanliness and Safety:
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for clients, which may include light housekeeping duties and adhering to infection control measures.
- Implement safety precautions as directed by the client and in accordance with their preferences.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of the care provided to each client, as required by the client's wishes and within legal and ethical boundaries.
Communication:
- Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and any relevant healthcare professionals, sharing information and seeking clarification when necessary.
- Promptly report any significant or concerning developments to the client.

- Social Security Card
- Current Level 2 Background Screening
- Health Statement stating “Free of Communicable Disease” (Dated within last 6 months)
- Current Certificate of Professional Liability Insurance
- Automobile Acknowledgement Attached Form
- Proof of Current CPR Certification (Must be from approved Red Cross or American Heart Association provider)
- Certificate for 1 Hour HIV/AIDS Training
- Certificate for 2 Hours Alzheimer’s Training
- Valid certification as a Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) through a recognized training program.
- Understanding of healthcare procedures, protocols, and patient safety measures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to client care.
- Physical stamina to assist with lifting and transferring clients, if needed.
- Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols.
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining records and managing your independent contracting business.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and dependable work ethic.
