St. Francis Center (SFC) was established in June 1983. SFC is a refuge for people who are experiencing homelessness in the metro Denver area. Our programs and services are tailored toward adults and focus on daytime shelter, social services, health and wellness, housing, employment, and outreach. At SFC, "guests" have the opportunity to work with a variety of specialists, depending on their individual needs, which is often the first step toward transformation and ultimately self-sufficiency.
We are currently looking for a Peer Support Professional for our Non-Congregant Shelter. This is a Part-Time, non-exempt position eligible for an excellent benefit package as outlined below.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Peer Support position will work at the Day Shelter and coordinate services among community partners and providers.
Job Responsibilities (duties include but are not limited to):
- Engage and develop rapport with guests at the NCS - Comfort Inn, with the goal of entering into Peer Navigation relationships that can help the guest stabilize, utilizing trauma informed practices and person-centered methods.
- Plan and initiate conversations and engagement with guests including, but not limited to, providing assistance with basic needs such as clothing, etc.
- Assist guests with accessing cash and non-cash benefits, referrals, and resources available in the community that can assist guests in assessing barriers to housing and create a pathway out of homelessness including vital documents. (Identification, Birt Records, Social Security Cards)
- Timely data entry in HMIS tracking goals, outcomes, assessments, referrals, and other information as necessary.
- Connecting guests with transportation needs, and supporting guests to prepare for appointments for medical, behavioral health, benefits, or other necessary services. Meeting individuals at appointment to provide necessary support.
- Liaise and coordinate supportive services with community partners, SFC case managers and providers.
- Lead Wellness groups and activities.
- Support individuals and housing navigation to ensure guests readiness housing skills.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Peer Navigator must have experience as unhoused prior to this position and be stably out of homelessness for at least two years.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to manage conflict, mitigate/respond to stressful situations and engage traumatic stories.
- Ability to understand and maintain professional boundaries.
- Ability to listen with care, treat guests with respect and dignity, and respond to each individual's unique needs.
- Willingness to participate in SFC and other training to complement the Peer Navigator's skills and abilities and provide Peer Navigation services in a trauma-informed manner that is relatively consistent across the entire agency.
- Basic computer skills necessary, and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs a plus.

- Willingness and ability to work with people from a variety of racial, cultural, social, and economic backgrounds with various lifestyles, sexual orientations, and of all ages and genders.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
Compensation:
This is a part-time, non-exempt position, with varied hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Pay Rate is per hour. $20.00-$22.00
