  • Essential Functions:

    Nature Center

    • To lead various nature tours and programs for property guests on and off property
    • Continually learning in the fields of biology and environmental science
    • Able to identify various species of native animals and plants, and be able to explain information to guests
    • To perform in the care and cleaning of exhibits, including but not limited to snakes, turtles, salt and freshwater aquariums, birds, and small mammals.
    • To assist with the development and implementation of new interpretive and educational programs and displays
    • Knowledge of ecology, flora, and fauna of coastal marine, maritime forest, and salt marsh environments
    • Knowledge of nature areas of interest on property and local area
    • Willingness to learn Amelia Island ecology specifics
    • Able to work with all age guests from children to elderly
    • Ability to drive company vehicles with or without guests (truck, truck w/trailer, golf cart)
    • Responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of the Nature Center, surrounding areas, kayak storage area, and resort property.
    • Responsible for the care and upkeep of all equipment (binoculars, fishing poles, other
      • equipment, kayaks, etc.)
    • Attend departmental meetings as assigned by management
    • Accept other special duties as required by management
    • Able to learn to ride a Segway and be approved tour guide from 60 days from hire

    Nature Center Retail

    • Retail sales opening and closing procedures
    • Cashier and cash drawer management
    • Proper handling of keys with access to Nature Center, Walker’s Landing, etc.
    • Inventory, stocking, and display of merchandise, organization or retail merchandise

    Cross Utilization

    • Flexibility in job duties
    • Assist in all other aspects of the recreation department as needed to include but not limited to: group functions, events, Amelia’s Wheels, Pool/Beach, Camp Amelia, Heron’s Cove mini-golf, Health and Fitness, and Tennis operations
    • Work holiday events and special programs as scheduled

  • Hotel Specific Functions:

    • Maintain standards of guest services and consistent positive guest experience as documented by J.D. Power and AAA Ratings
    • Have a thorough understanding of Omni Hotels culture, rules, and regulations
    • Answer phones using the proper "Moments of Service" scenario
    • Provide guests with cheerful, personable, efficient service
    • Responsible for a clean and professional appearance of uniforms
    • Fully understand and implement "Moments of Service" and “Power of Engagement”
    • Interact with every guest using Omni Standards
    • Knowledgeable about all hotel amenities and property specifics
    • Actively participate in the assurance of the safety of all guests
    • Treat everyone, supervisors, staff and guests with courtesy and respect always

  • Tools & Equipment:

    • Kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, bikes, Segways, golf carts, trucks, binoculars, basic tools, and power tools.
    • Aquariums, tanks and all associated cleaning tools.
    • First aid equipment.
    • Computer, printer and all related software programs, Point of Sale (POS), telephone, pen/pencil, photo-copying machine, facsimile machine, receipt printers, etc.
    • Computer Software: Microsoft Programs: Excel, Word, Power-Point, Publisher, Outlook; Xola; Resort Suite

    Working Environment:

    • Exposure to various weather conditions
    • Exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures
    • Exposed to minimal amounts of various hazardous chemicals
    •             Exposure to poisonous plants, animals and insects
    • Exposure to low dose of household chemicals
    • Areas: Nature Center, Amelia's Wheels, Hotel Pool, Drummond Point Park, Walkers Landing, Bike Trails, and various off property nature excursions

    Physical Job Requirements (for essential functions only)

    • Valid drivers license
    • Able to lift and lift up to 60-100 pounds occasionally and 30-50 pounds repeatedly
    • Able to swim and tread water
    • Able to stand and walk for long periods of time
    • Able to complete Segway certification within 60 days of hire
    • Able to complete kayak rescue training within 60 days of hire
    • Able to stoop, push, or pull for long periods of time
    • Must be able to hear, have good or corrected vision, and a good sense of balance
    • Associate must be able to verbally communicate clearly and effectively to various sized groups of resort guests
    • Able to multi-task effectively
