What you will be doing

The National Merchandising Department has an opening for a National Category Analyst.

As a National Category Analyst, you will play a crucial role throughout the product lifecycle - from assessment and assortment to merchandising, pricing, and promotion, culminating in the results that drive you to look for the next iteration.

You will analyze company wide sales and marketing information for assigned categories, envision the next steps for that category based on the data, and inform our buying, sales and marketing teams to assist them in driving sales goals.

The position will be based in Boise, Idaho, or one of our main regional offices (Seattle, WA, Portland, OR, Pleasanton CA, Denver CO, Dallas TX, Chicago, IL, or Fullerton, CA, Phoenix, AZ).

Main responsibilities

  • Analyst interpret, and provide insights/conclusions on large amounts of transaction and customer/shopper data globally and by marketing area, to communicate impactful recommendations to business leaders.
  • Creatively articulate the insights behind the data and help our team iterate category futures.
  • Manage cross-functional stakeholder needs both effectively and sensitively.
  • Use internal tools to craft data forecasts for categories and suppliers as part of our National Category programs.
  • Communicate weekly with a variety of stakeholders through email and Microsoft Teams.
  • Present category results every 4 weeks to a variety of key stakeholders.

The salary range is $62,700 to $81,540 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation Pay (accrued based on hours worked) or Flexible Time Of, paid holidays (9days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401K eligibility).

What we are searching for

  • 1-3 years’ experience working with shopper-generated or household/transaction-level data.
  • 4-year college degree or equivalent grocery industry experience required. 2 years general retail experience a plus.
  • Proficient computer skills including the Microsoft Office Suite, QMF and SSIMS. Experience with SQL and advanced Excel skills.
  • General knowledge of segmentation models and an ability to synthesize and summarize large amounts of information clearly and concisely.
  • High degree of initiative with strong planning skills; must be able to work independently and be a team player.
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to solve complex problems.
  • 20% travel required visiting divisions.
