National Behavior Coach 

 

Role Mission: The National Behavior Coach ensures IDEA Public Schools meets the needs of all its students in Special Programs by developing systems and policies and procedures that align to state and federal standards. The National Behavior Coach is responsible for ensuring student achievement through compliance measures, streamlined support structures, and operating procedures. The National Behavior Coach will work closely with Special Programs Directors, Schools Teams, and Assessment Leads in ensuring high quality services and supports are achieved for all learners through Behavior Support Services and Transition. 

  

Supervisory Responsibilities:The Special Program Coach will train/support RTI/MTSS Point People, Regional Special Programs Directors, Regional Behavior Analysts, and Regional Assessment Personnel. 

  

Location: This is a full-time position based in Texas with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.  

  

Travel Expectations: 

May travel 40% or less at the busiest times of the year to attend conferences or trainings. 

  

What You’ll Do – Accountabilities 

  

Essential Duties:  

  • Oversee the programmatic vision and implementation of behavioral support at IDEA
  • Create processes and oversee the implementation of IDEA’s Special Education behavior supports and services.
  • Develop and design pro-active approaches to ensure regions are maintaining state and federally compliant practices in special programs (in the areas of behavior and Autism).
  • Develop effective on-boarding and ongoing professional development for Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA’s), Behavior Specialists, Licensed Specialists in School Psychology, and Educational Diagnosticians
  • Support the regions to monitor and ensure behavior practices are compliant with state and federal mandates.
  • Support regional leads in developing regional practices to ensure services are provided and tracked in adherence to state and federal standards (in the areas of behavior and Autism).
  • Works collaboratively with the National Special Programs team to ensure effective instructional support/resources are created and provided to address academic, behavior, and activities of daily living skills.
  • Supports Special Education behavior district guidelines and compliance timelines.
  • Support the programmatic vision and implementation of Behavior RTI/MTSS for IDEA
  • Develop and co-design pro-active behavior approaches and operating mechanisms to ensure regions are maintaining implementation of behavior RTI/MTSS
  • Support the regions to progress monitor and ensure behavior RTI practices are implemented across IDEA
  • Work in conjunction with the National RTI/MTSS Coach to develop policies and operating procedures for behavior RTI/MTSS
  • Works collaboratively with the Student Performance and Advocacy team, Director of Special Programs Instruction, and the Curriculum and Instruction Team to ensure effective instructional support/resources are created and provided.
  • Oversee the services for special education students with Autism
  • Develop and design pro-active approaches to ensure regions are maintaining state and federally compliant practices in special programs to support students with Autism
  • Develop training and resources in the areas of Autism and Evidence Based Practices

Required experience: 

  • Required Education: Master’s degree
  • Certifications: Board Certified Behavior Analyst Certification, License Behavior Analyst in Texas, Educational
  • Diagnostician Certification, Special Education Certification preferred but not required
  • Years of Experience: at least 5 years of experience in special education administration and supervisory experience required
  • Required Technology: high level of proficiency with Office 365 suite

Preferred experience: 

Managing and overseeing RTI services, Managing and overseeing Behavior Analysts, Managing and overseeing services for students with Autism 

  

Physical Requirements:  

  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Lifting items weighing 15 lbs. or less
  • Sedentary office environment

What We Offer: 


Compensation & Benefits: 

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $74,000-$87,000, , commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
