Job Summary:
Develop and deploy strategies to grow and retain National Account Sales (primarily cases with 5,000 lives and above). Be the National Account subject matter expert for the Standard which includes, but is not limited to, knowing the Standard's National Account capabilities, the capabilities of our competitors and being a go-to resource both inside and outside of the organization on all things National Accounts related.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Drive and grow National Account Sales and a National Account Sales strategy by building relationships with large strategic consulting houses and internal key stakeholders.
  • Be a subject Matter Expert for our external partners and internal sales force in our capabilities including systems, claims, technologies and absence management in order to drive business growth in the National Accounts arena.
  • Train the internal sales team on all things National Accounts related.
  • Be involved in important and complex renewals; work on other cases based on complexity and timing on an as needed basis.
  • Help shape the future National Accounts strategy and capabilities and be involved in all "strategic proposals" as deemed appropriate.
  • Leverage sales consultant relationships and help facilitate conversation, if needed, to bring in large case bid opportunities.
  • Have a thorough understanding of our competitors strengths and weaknesses and to know what new capabilities they are working on.
  • Develop proposal process and delivery for National Accounts along with finalist strategy development.
  • Track results of opportunities in order to have credible data of wins and losses and use this information to drive any changes needed to enable more wins.
  • Attend specific industry conferences where we can influence consultants and new customers.
  • Create consistent presentation content and make it available to the field.

Job Specifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business or related field
  • Professional certification required: FLMI or CEBS preferred.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressively responsible work experience in sales or marketing or other relevant experience in group insurance benefits, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years proven track record in dealing with vendors and/or brokers.

Advanced knowledge of:
  • Group products, claim practices/process, standard value proposition, administrative procedures, services, contract language and provisions, project and vendor management.

Demonstrated skills:
  • Develop business relationships with customers at all levels of their organization.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse audiences in written and verbal form.
  • Promote, sell and manage complex issues, details, and concepts.
  • Negotiate pricing and services on high exposure risks internally and externally and manage multiple, highly complex tasks.

Ability to:
  • Solve policy owner and broker problems.
  • Speak effectively in public to groups and develop appropriate presentations for the audience.
  • Make independent decisions consistent with company and departmental objectives.
  • Influence decision makers and travel nationally on a moderate to frequent basis, sometimes with little advanced notice.

Physical Demands:
  • Travel nationally up to 50% of the time.

Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.
  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.
  • Performance guarantees may be applied to roles with highly incentivized compensation plans for a specified period of time, to support a new hire's transition into the sales incentive plan.

Salary Range:
Expected compensation ranges from $120k base pay up to $255k depending on company and individual performance
