What You'll Get to Do:
CACI has a challenging and exciting opportunity for an experienced Software Systems Engineerto design the Vehicle Systems Manager (VSM) for overall Integrated Control of the NASA Lunar Gateway focusing on integration with ground and onboard human operators.
This position supports the Artemis Program and requires a motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. The individual must share our passion for our Nation's Space Program and share in the excitement of developing the next human-rated space vehicles. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must have strong customer relationship skills, possess a positive team-player attitude, be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise, and be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex technical ideas in a convincing manner.
More About the Role:
Develop and maintain program level Interface Control Document (ICD) and Interface Requirements Document (IRD).
- Mature VSM concepts and design related to human computer interaction and capture them in concept documentation.
- Provide creative solutions to advance VSM Software technologies through design deep dives.
- Lead an Integration Working Group to obtain agreement on key stakeholder inputs and outputs.
- Provide solutions to previously identified system gaps and ensure robustness of the proposed solution.
- Perform trade studies, analysis, and assessment of complex systems.
- Use custom and commercial tools (DOORS, Sharepoint, Confluence, MagicDraw) to access and maintain artifacts.
- Interface with NASA and spacecraft designer engineering and operations teams.
- Interface with domestic and international Gateway partners.
- Actively participate and present at Preliminary and Critical Design reviews and overseeing boards.
- Provide input to software architecture and design artifacts.
- Provide support to the Lunar Gateway Mission Management Working Group (MMWG).
This work takes place at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space flight and the space exploration initiative.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to facilitate access to USG facilities.
- B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Software, Computer, or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
- At least 3 years of Software Systems Engineering experience including software design and development.
- Ability to present complex topics and defend proposed solution to large audiences.
- Experience developing/maintaining software architecture and design artifacts.
- Experience with EITHER:
o Autonomous or remotely controlled systems (e.g., used in satellites, autonomous cars, or unmanned aerial vehicles), OR
o Avionics and flight software development for human-rated space vehicles, e.g., Space Shuttle, International Space Station, Commercial Crew Vehicles, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, or Lunar Gateway. - Evidence of success in fast-paced, collaborative projects/environments.
- Flexible, open to new challenges in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision.
- Responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic.
- Well-developed coordination and organization skills.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- M.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Software, Computer, or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
- SysML experience.
- Experience or knowledge of database management.
- Experience with data management for Software Systems.
- Experience using MagicDraw and/or other Model Based Systems Engineering Tools.
- Experience in integrating distributed avionics and Software Systems.
- Experience with data driven Software Systems.
- Use case development experience.
- Experience in Agile software development environments and methodologies.
- Experience in the full life cycle of human-rated space vehicle flight projects (e.g., Space Shuttle, International Space Station, Commercial Crew Vehicles, or Orion).
