Job description

Ardurrais seeking a Certified NACE Cathodic Protection Inspector L1 (NACE – CP1) to join our team in Houston, TX

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The NACE Inspector is responsible for Facility Corrosion Inspection ensuring corrosion control and prevention by monitoring, improving, and repairing infrastructure when needed. The role is responsible for continual testing of water and wastewater facilities including production and treatments facilities, sheet piling, ground and elevated storage tanks, large diameter water lines, above grade crossings, appurtenances, forced mains and wells. Manage scheduled inspections which includes all rectifiers to be tested quarterly and test stations or other facilities at least annually. The service also includes failure analysis if needed.

Essential Duties:

  • Performs basic non‐destructive inspections of Cathodic Protection surfaces under the supervision of an intermediate level or higher inspector.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Works closely under the supervision of an intermediate or higher-level inspector to check overall condition, voltage, and amperage for rectifier, test stations, etc..
  • Performs inspections, identifies problems areas and recommends solutions.
  • Is able to take and record ambient conditions.
  • Must be proficient in the use of a computer and web‐based applications to report daily according to Ardurra standards.

Direction Received:

  • Receives direction from Programs & Construction Manager or Corrpro Supervisor

Communication Skills

  • Effective oral, written and basic computer skills in order to interact with the general public, contractors, technical professionals and business to respond to inquiries and technical problems.

Travel and/or Environment Requirements

  • Must be able to:
    • Visually observe and differentiate details and colors of objects.
    • Recognize sound, tone and pitch.
    • Adjust to interruption and changes.
    • Work in noisy as well as hot and cold work areas.
    • Adapt and professionally deal with people in tense situations.
    • Ability to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time, climb stairs and ladders, and lift up to forty (40) pounds.
  • Must have valid State Driver’s License and carry applicable State mandated auto insurance.
  • Must have dependable transportation to attend meetings or to make field visits on a short notice.
  • Must be willing and available to work all shifts, including rotation, weekends and holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent as a minimum
  • Engagement in life‐long learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues.

Experience:

  • 1 + years as a Cathodic Protection technician/inspector

Licensure and Certification:

  • Must hold NACE CP1 Certification
