NA Class Instructor - RN
Status: Full-Time
Shift: Monday - Friday
Compensation: $50 $55 DOE

BSN or Associate degree from an accredited college or university is required
This position will also provide classroom and clinical education for Avamere Health Services Nursing Assistant Level 1 Program. The Primary Instructor is responsible for screening, interviewing, and placement of students in each cohort. Cohorts include 96 hours of classroom/Lab and 75 hours of Clinical.

Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the classroom, laboratory, and clinical practicum.
- Is onsite and available during 100% of the clinical teaching time.
- Is onsite and available at least 100% of the classroom and laboratory time.
- Delivers coursework using contemporary teaching strategies and practices
- Accurately records students’ daily attendance
- Follows and enforces Student Guidelines
- Participates in the planning and evaluation of each segment of the curriculum.
- Maintains classroom in good physical order, helps to manage program supplies, and keep equipment in good repair
- Enters classroom at designated time with all necessary materials. Begins and ends class at scheduled times and follows scheduled student break times
- May delegate classroom, laboratory, and or clinical teaching responsibilities to a Nursing Board Approved Instructor or Clinical Teaching Associate if directed to do so by the Program Director.
- The Primary Instructor shall hold a current, unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon
- Two or more years of experience as a Registered Nurse and teaching experience or educational preparation for teaching adults, preferred
- Must complete the “Train the CNA Trainer” course on adult instruction
- Must have sufficient ability to move around the building and classroom to satisfy student needs and/or facilitate student participation
- Delivers coursework using contemporary teaching strategies and practices
- Participates in the planning and evaluation of each segment of the curriculum
Qualifications:
- BSN or associate degree from an accredited college or university
- Current, unencumbered, active RN license in Oregon
- Preferred minimum of two years of experience in Skilled Nursing or Long-Term Care
- Completion of a training course on adult instruction or one year of demonstrated experience teaching adults **Training course can be completed after hire**
- Preferred two or more years of experience as a Registered Nurse and teaching experience or educational preparation for teaching adults
- Ability to move around the building and classroom to satisfy student needs
- Visual and auditory ability to operate computer equipment, use the telephone, read materials, use a whiteboard, and utilize classroom equipment
- Effective communication skills in classroom and individual settings
- Knowledge of materials to be taught and ability to use and communicate the curriculum
- Ability to use current technology for maintaining student records, e.g., Microsoft Office
- Ability to achieve or maintain credentials and licensure within expected time frames
- Objectivity in treating all students equally
