The Utah State Tax Commission's Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division (MVED) is looking for a skilled and motivated individual to fill its MVED Office Support Technician position. This person will play an integral role in Division's mission to assist clientele with business licensing questions. You must be current on your state and federal tax filings and pass a criminal background check.
Principal Duties
The MVED Office Support Technician will perform the following duties working as the Front Counter position:
- Registration/licensure duties of motor vehicle businesses and related representatives and owners.
- Full range of licensing, renewal and registration duties in person, by telephone or mail for all licenses offered by division while working the Front Counter daily.
- Utilize a computer system to enter, retrieve, and revise information to assist customers; initiate and/or complete motor vehicle business transactions involving simple or complex document review
- May assist supervisory staff in providing training to entry level technicians; help to resolve more difficult and complex transactions, questions and issues.
- May gather and review documents for use in auditing and other research efforts; access motor vehicle, motor vehicle business tax records, and business corporate filings using automated systems
- Perform dispatch duties as needed, including utilization of dispatch radio and automated systems.
- Act as support staff for division administration and investigative officers.
This position's working hours are Monday through Friday (8:00 am - 5:00pm).

- Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k))
- Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.
- Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in Tier I Public Employees System.
- Paid Time Off:
- Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual, 4 hours sick).
- Annual leave increases with years of service.
- There are also 12 paid holidays.
Salary will start at $18.18/hour, DHRM rules apply for promotions/transfers

Working Conditions
- Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
- Personal tax filings and vehicle registrations must be current and complete.
- A conditional offer of employment will be made pending a satisfactory completion of a FBI level background investigation.
