Qualifications
Required
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in education, languages, sociology, social work, or related field.
- Two (2) years of progressively more responsible bilingual language experience, with proficiency in the designated language.
- Knowledge and understanding of the culture and customs of the designated language within countries.
- Knowledge of translation best practices in educational settings.
- Knowledge of specific school-based terminology, such as special education vocabulary.
- Proficiency in the use of technology.
- Ability to apply knowledge to the needs and requirements of a public school system.
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with culturally diverse families and staff.
- Ability to adhere to project timelines and meet deadlines.
- Ability to provide guidance and maintain confidentiality, at all times.
- Ability to participate in professional development activities.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to fluently and effectively communicate in both English and the designated second language, orally and in writing.
Preferred
- Certification by the American Translator's Association (ATA).
