    Job Description

    The Multicultural Community Outreach Coordinator will serve as a member of the NEDS Multicultural Community Outreach team. The position works in multicultural communities serviced by NEDS to increase understanding of - and support for - donation and transplant to grow donation rates and donor registration rates among key populations in specified geographic areas.

    FOCUS AREAS/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Collaborates with the Multicultural Community Outreach Team to develop relationships with key constituents primarily in the African American communities of Massachusetts, as well as other multicultural communities to create outreach programs that improve donation rates and increase donor registry sign-ups.
    • Develops impactful community based events and programs that energize Multicultural community members to engage in the issue of donation and transplant.
    • Collaborates with the hospital development staff to assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining effective community-based programs that improve donation rates among the minority communities.
    • Partners with hospital development staff to create and implement minority Community Outreach plans for hospitals.
    • Builds relationships with news and media outlets of importance to the Multicultural communities NEDS serves.
    • Assists in establishing the goals and identifying objectives necessary to increase the number of donors from the minority community.
    • Advocates for donation while being respectful of cultural and/or religious beliefs.
    • Carries out other duties as deemed appropriate by the Director of Multicultural Community Outreach or other designee.

    This position will be a hybrid role and they ideal candidate will live in Boston, MA or Greater Boston, MA area. This position will rotate between occasional trips to our Waltham, MA Headquarters, visiting Boston based communities and working from home.

    ** KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**

    • Ability to provide education on organ and tissue donation, and to advocate for donation while being respectful of individual family circumstances.
    • Ability to develop effective professional relationships, possesses superior communication skills, and demonstrated ability to quickly understand the culture of an organization and work effectively within it.
    • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
    • Ability to effectively and professionally present information and respond to questions about donation from donor families, health care professionals, NEDS co-workers and the general public.
    • Ability to identify actual and potential problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and develop a plan of care to offer all families the opportunity for organ and/or tissue donation.
    • Ability to practice with a high degree of autonomy in a self-directed manner, demonstrating innovation and creativity in problem solving.
    • Required to travel by personal vehicle in order to meet the duties and responsibilities of the position. Must hold a valid state driver’s license.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
    • Experience establishing and building relationships to support the goals of an organization or group.

    ** CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:**

    • Required to travel frequently by personal vehicle to meet the duties and responsibilities of this position. Must maintain the requirements of an “eligible driver” including maintaining an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and required minimum personal automobile insurance per NEDS automobile policy.
    • Valid state driver’s license required.
