Job Description
The Multi-Skilled Operator will play a pivotal role in the successful implementation and subsequent operation of the Pikka project. The Multi-Skilled Operator is responsible for safely operating the Production Facility, Drill-Site, Seawater Treatment Plant, Grind & Inject, Tie-in Pad, and various equipment in the field including wells, oil separation train, gas treating and compression, water injection pumps, miscible injection pumps, and pipeline facilities.
As part of our dynamic team during the project phase, this role will be part of the Integrated Commissioning and Start-up Team, participating in commissioning activities, system testing, and facilitating the transition from commissioning to full-scale operations. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of a state-of-the-art facility and shape its operational success.
Commissioning Phase:
- Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to understand project specifications, design, and equipment.
- Participate in pre-commissioning checks, ensuring systems are ready for commissioning activities.
- Assist in developing and executing commissioning plans, including system walk-downs, equipment testing, and documentation.
- Identify and resolve issues that arise during commissioning, coordinating with relevant teams to ensure timely resolution.
- Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various equipment and processes.
- Perform minor maintenance and assist maintenance technicians.
Transition to Operations:
- Facilitate the smooth transition from commissioning to operations, ensuring a seamless handover of systems, processes, and documentation.
- Collaborate closely with the operations team to transfer knowledge and insights gained during commissioning.
- Assist in the training of operations staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle day-to-day activities.
- Contribute to the development of maintenance strategies, reliability plans, and emergency response protocols.
- Provide valuable input for optimizing equipment performance, energy efficiency, and operational safety.
Operations:
- Monitor and operate equipment within established operational parameters, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment to minimize downtime and maintain optimal efficiency.
- Collaborate with the operations team to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing operational reliability and performance.
- Inspect all associated oil and gas process equipment and piping for leaks or unusual conditions and taking corrective actions, including development of work orders, and entering them into the system.
- Complete safe outs/in of equipment for maintenance operations and issuing work permits.
- Seek opportunities to reduce area costs and optimize performance.
- Participate in facility/drill site modifications and special projects.
- Troubleshoot technical problems and safety issues.
- Perform minor maintenance and assist maintenance technicians.
- Make recommendations for improving SOPs.
- Maintains composure in challenging situations.
Formal Requirements
- Educational background normally acquired through a High School degree or GED or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
- Valid state motor vehicle license
Experience/Requirements
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
- Minimum of 5 years maintenance experience in the oil and gas experience is required
- Knowledge on completion & commissioning activities
- Willing and able to work a 12-hour day/night shift with a 2/2 weeks on/off rotational schedule on the North Slope of Alaska
- Currently reside in, able to relocate to, or willing to commute to Anchorage, AK without company assistance
- Able to successfully pass a fit for duty assessment
Preferred
- Detailed knowledge of upstream production operations including oil separation & processing, gas compression, waterflood injection, enhanced oil recovery, power generation and utilities, chemical injection, drillsites, and well operations
- Experience operating using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and/or Distributive Control System (DCS)
- North Slope/Arctic operating experience
- Associate degree or higher in process technology or other technical discipline
- Demonstrated support of employee guided safety processes and/or emergency services teams
- Experience with reading and comprehending P&ID's (Piping & Instrument Diagrams)
- Basic level computer skills, word processing, spreadsheets, and email
