Fuji Vegetable Oil, Inc. is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic team player to join our Maintenance Team as a Multi Craft Mechanic III in our Savannah, GA Plant. Our pay range for MC Mechanic III is $34.22/hr.- $37.80/hr. based on experience. This is a Swing Shift position working 48 hours one week and 36 hours the next week, days & nights. Training period is day shift for the first 8 weeks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshooting, installing, aligning, dismantling, repairing, and maintaining industrial machinery, tanks, pumps, motors, heat exchangers, agitators, boilers, air compressors, valves, and piping.
  • Performing periodic proactive asset strategies, such as maintenance routes, preventative maintenance, and other tasks to improve reliability and uptime.
  • Ability to precision align belts, gears or direct coupled shafts using proper tools to specified tolerances.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic systems, control devices, hydraulic equipment
  • Ability to perform daily preventative maintenance tasks
  • Reading and interpreting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics
  • Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures and actively participating in the safety program.
  • Using pipefitting skills to weld, cut, fit and install piping throughout the facility.
  • Apply problem solving methods to identify the root cause and eliminate failures.
  • Operates and understands boiler functions and the ability to maintain their efficiency
  • Perform basic SAP functions, but not limited to, approving, printing, updating BOM’s, creates work notifications, and changing equipment information.
  • Continuously reviews backlog of notifications and work orders to ensure requests are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Helps maintain and identify proper storeroom stock for critical equipment and provides input with regards to storeroom organization of parts for accuracy and quick retrieval.

  • Basic understanding and interpretation of Vantage Point trends and Factory Talk View (HMI) to troubleshoot equipment and production data.
  • Must be able to respond to phone calls off shift
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

In addition to a high school diploma or equivalency degree, five (5) years as a multi-craft or eight (8) years as a single-craft mechanic is desired. Related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Welding, Pipefitting, Millwright, Boiler Repair and electrical systems experience or training is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate on a radio.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply basic concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to use a computer keyboard and for routine control systems maintenance. Must be able to distinguish between hot and cold to verify if the heat tracing is working on the process lines. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear on the radio and telephone. Hearing is also used to monitor some equipment statuses. The employee is occasionally required to sit for short periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision to read a computer screen including color coded indicators, pressure gauges, temperature and level gauges, gas and product flow indicators, and other measuring equipment.

The employee is occasionally required to work in confined spaces and must be able to pass a respiratory clearance test.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud when repairing equipment.
