Job Summary
We are a fast-paced manufacturing company and we are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team, specializing in ARTEX Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) repair and servicing at our 145 Repair Center and FAR 21 facilities. This position works under the administrative direction of the VP, with minimal supervision. Responsible for business unit operations and driving continuous improvement efforts to grow the business unit. Full focus on Safety, Quality, productivity, efficiency, and profitability of departmental and organizational operations for a repair station through the provision of effective methods and strategies. The Manager must exhibit exceptional reasoning abilities to effectively address operational challenges, devise strategic plans, and make data-driven decisions. This includes the capacity to assess risks, analyze complex technical issues, evaluate financial implications, and balance multiple priorities to ensure the repair station's success.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the repair station while ensuring compliance with FAA and EASA regulations. This position will manage the FAA Part 145 and Outdoor and Marine Repair Stations and its staff of Technicians and Account Administrators. This will include management of staff, preparing work schedules, assigning specific duties, evaluating performance, and conducting reviews regularly. The Manager shall provide leadership to achieve operational goals this includes but is not limited to; staffing requirements, interviewing, hiring, managing the cross-training plan, and training new employees.
Duties/ResponsibilitiesManagement
- Managing and improving workflow through the constraint and bottleneck processes
- Cooperatively works cross-functionally with other management to ensure appropriate allocation of resources and human power
- Perform all required administrative functions, monthly reports and correspondence, and any other related duties required to complete the tasks assigned
- Responsible for overall implementation and operation of all quality assurance policies, programs (i.e. calibration program), and procedures used throughout the FAA repair station facility and operations
- Drive the business by leading and managing a team of technicians, supervisors, and administrative staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Ensure the availability and efficient utilization of resources, including personnel, equipment, and facilities, to meet customer demands and production targets.
- Preemptively identifies negative trends and creatively works to achieve win-win solutions with other management when conflicts occur, balancing program requirements with resource constraints
Maintenance
- Management of a global repair network of authorized service centers and battery replacement facilities
- Update the repair station manuals as required
- Maintain a productive relationship with the assigned FSDO
- Establish and ensure performance to KPIs including but not limited to Revenue targets, turn-around time, daily output, and inventory turns
- Work closely with the Aviation Sales, Engineering, and Technical Services teams on updated technical information and customer-sensitive situations
- Provide repair trends and applicable feedback to the Quality, Engineering, and Technical Services teams
- Ensure repair station equipment is in good working order and works according to FAA and company regulations. Identify fixture concerns and work with Manufacturing Engineers to improve productivity
- Monitor and evaluate repair station performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Commercial Aviation FAA Repair Station, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, safety protocols, and quality standards.
- Effectively addresses customer concerns and obtains solutions such as reallocation of resources, revised schedules, or modified contractual specification
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to establish and maintain a robust quality management system, including documentation control, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Strategy
- Have the ability to build and deliver top and bottom-line financial goals by engaging heavily in the budgeting process, including cost control measures, pricing strategies, and financial reporting to achieve profitability goals.
- Perform optimization, lean improvements, and ensure conflict resolution to drive profitable growth
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes, and implement necessary adjustments to maintain a competitive edge.
- Obtain updates and standards issued by the FAA, EASA, and other regulating bodies. Ensure that the repair station is operating following those requirements
- Develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth including building business cases and delivery on new product line introductions, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Required skills/abilities
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, think critically, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid understanding of budgeting, financial analysis, and cost control measures to drive profitability.
- Proven results in improving processes, increasing business, and reducing turn-around times in an FAA-certified repair station
- Must understand the importance of a customer and service them accordingly
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Good people skills; ability to work with both management and repair technicians
- Working knowledge of FAA Repair Station Standards and Regulations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize in a fast-paced corporate environment
- Must be willing to travel domestically or internationally at rare occasions
- This is a drug-free company and candidates must be able to pass a DOT pre-employment drug test for a safety-sensitive position, and background. Random drug tests are performed as well.
Knowledge, Education, and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in aviation management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is required. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the commercial aviation industry, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role within an FAA Repair Station
- FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant license a plus
- Experience with AS9100 Quality Systems is a must
- Strong understanding of FAA regulations, including Part 145 and other applicable guidelines governing repair station operations.
- Fluent verbal and written English skills are required.
- Must be a team player who will contribute ideas and solutions.
- Working knowledge of the entire MS-Office product line, as well as the ability to effectively conduct Internet research
