POSITION TITLE:MRI/CT Technologist


DEPARTMENT: X-Ray

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Director or Supervisor

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:
Operates a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and related equipment to obtain images used in the diagnosis and treatment of patient pathologies and injuries as per facility protocol(s).
The Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist is a highly skilled professional who uses specialized computerized x-ray equipment to produce cross sectional images of the human anatomy which aid radiologists in diagnosing a wide variety of diseases and disorders.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Uses knowledge of imaging techniques and cross-sectional anatomy to create high quality images for interpretation by radiologists and other medical professionals.
  • Explaining the MRI process to patients and ensuring the patients comply with all safety standards; screen patients for MRI safety prior to procedure performance.
  • Modifies technical settings and adjusts scanning parameters to enhance images and minimize unnecessary exposure.
  • Performs routine inspections and maintenance on scanner and related equipment and archives imaging data.
  • Explaining the MRI process to patients and ensuring the patients comply with all safety standards.
  • Evaluate MRI scans for technical quality, collate processed images and sequence of exposure and label appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Perform Radiological procedures when not performing MRI Duties.
  • Assist radiologist with procedure performance.
  • Perform injections of contrast media in compliance with existing operating policies and procedures.
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology and medical terminology.
  • Determine and set appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.
  • Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation and certification, knowledge, and permitted by the policies and procedures of Complete Health Medical Associates, and other local, state, and federal guidelines; and the policies of the facility requesting the services.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion from an accredited school in radiologic technology or a related area
  • Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
  • Requires ARRT certification in MR technology
  • Requires ARRT certification in C.T. technology
  • 1 year previous experience in diagnostic radiology or other imaging modality preferred.
  • State License based on Clinical Specialty, as determined by state requirements



WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The position requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and finger use. Pushing and pulling are occasionally required. Use of a computer, keyboard, and telephone along with various office machines is an essential part of the job.
