Job Description
Christie Clinic's department of Radiology is seeking a full-time MRI Technologist(Sign-On Bonus Available) at the University, Urbana, and Fields Clinics from Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm.
As an MRI Technologist, you will perform and demonstrate proficiency and understanding in the principles, techniques and procedures associated with Magnetic Resonance Imaging. The technologist must be able to work independently to produce images for the diagnostic interpretation of diseases and ailments.
A graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist program and current registration in MRI through the ARRT (must be working towards registration within 2 years of training in MRI) in required).
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 50 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an outpatient environment. Patient loads are high and the work is fast paced. Employees must be willing to work flexible hours.
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Greet patients with eye contact, introduce yourself, and verify correct patient by using proper patient identifiers.
- Verify correct ordering provider and exam.
- Explain exam and educate patients on procedure.
- Perform MRI exams, including but not limited to, head/neck, spine, extremities, vascular work and abdominal.
- Interview the patient to determine the safety of entering into a magnetic environment.
- Evaluate the clinical history and ask appropriate questions to document into the RIS notes.
- Choose proper coil for exam. Select appropriate protocol to image area in question. Manipulate protocol if necessary, including but not limited to, slice thickness, orientation, use of FATSAT, STIR, reconstruction and contrast.
- Start IV’s as needed, as required.
- Be knowledgeable about the various contrast agents used
- Produce additional images as needed to fully demonstrate area of concern and consult with Radiologist as necessary.
- Protocol the schedule and understand necessary steps to ensure the patient exam is correct, appropriate lab work has been completed.
- Perform patient reminder calls.
- Have exceptional communication skills to explain exam to patient, calm fears, demonstrate compassion, and communicate with patient during exam as necessary.
