ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.  Maintains a high quality of patient care; positions and handles patients with a high degree of professional ethics, care, tact, courtesy, patience, and safety.
2. Greets and introduces self to patient and describes nature and time requirements of requested exams (AIDET).
3. Keeps room and work area neat and orderly.  Maintains and rotates supplies/inventory.  Keeps work area stocked.
4. Organizes, plans, and directs activities relating to patients and procedures for designated area/room.  Able to teach patient/family about exam requirements, pre and post instructions.
5. Identifies problems and communicates to the Imaging Services Director or Imaging Clinical Coordinator; offers solutions as appropriate.
6. Furnishes radiologist with the patient's history on report form.  Completes all paperwork where applicable.  Completes patient questionnaire before beginning any MRI exam.
7. Maintains a good working relationship with the radiologist -- communicates with the radiologist regarding examinations as necessary.  
8. Performs specific duties requested by the Imaging Services Director.
9. Attends regularly scheduled departmental meetings, staff in-service education, and training programs.
10. Promotes good interpersonal relationships within the department and hospital.
11. Assumes responsibility for proper and efficient operation of all the MRI equipment used; reports malfunctions and the need for adjustments or repairs to the Imaging Services Director.
12. Adjusts technical factors in proportion to patient's body habitus.
13. Assists in the movement of patients to and from wheelchairs and carts onto the table in MRI.
14. Performs all MRI exams according to departmental protocols.
15. Administers prescribed contrast agents as needed.
16. Keeps repeat exams to a minimum.
17. Participates in continued quality improvement program.
18. Familiar with PACS.

Physical Demands

• Requires full range of body motion including: handling and lifting of patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
• Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
• Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
