The Georgia State University/Georgia Tech Center for Advanced Brain Imaging (CABI) is looking for an MRI Technician to join our team! CABI is focused on providing advanced brain imaging resources to the Atlanta area neuroscience community.
The MRI Technician will be supporting the Center and will be pivotal in supporting the researchers at the Center with MRI data collection and assisting CABI users regarding Center procedures and policies. The person will be required to perform a variety of duties focusing on MR scans, which require a range of skills and knowledge of Center and University policies and procedures. They will be responsible for managing and overseeing MRI scans for the Center. The MRI Technician must organize and prepare a range of administrative documents related to MRI scanning and perform as a multifunctional team member of the Center.
Job Purpose:
Perform MRI scans at a research dedicated imaging center. Support the imaging center's research mission by providing experience and knowledge of operating an MRI system and MRI-related hardware, ensuring data accuracy, protection of human subjects, supporting PIs and participating in the center's various educational efforts.
Major Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate understanding of the MRI system and related devices.
- Demonstrate adequate knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Knowledge of MRI safety procedures in case of emergencies.
- Perform all MRI scans in compliance with IRB approved protocols including verification of research study's IRB compliance and subject consenting procedures.
- Conduct bi-monthly MRI safety training for new students and researchers and maintain a record of safety trained individuals.
- Ensure MRI safety form is filled out and without any MRI contraindications and ensure safety procedures are followed and understood by the participants prior to the scan.
- Perform weekly MRI QA procedures.
- Assist researchers with scheduling scans, approve/deny scheduling requests in accordance with center's scheduling policies and through the center's scheduling system.
- Maintain a summary log of each completed/incomplete/cancelled scans.
- Prepare monthly scan reports for billing purposes.
- Maintain an inventory log of MRI related supplies.
- Demonstrate ability and interest to learn new imaging technologies and neuroinformatic systems.

Qualifications:
Master's degree and four years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
