Job Summary:
The position is located in the imaging department of the medical clinics and reports directly to the Patient Access Manager for all matters, including job duties, performance evaluations, approval of leave, and for other assignments as deemed necessary for the benefit of the Baton Rouge Orthopaedic Clinic (BROC).
Duties/Responsibilities:
Ensures that the scheduling and pre-certification of diagnostic imaging tests are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Processes the applicable paperwork prior to and after exams are completed.
Specific Duties:
Obtains, schedules, and documents orders and insurance information for MRI exams.
Monitors the diagnostic imaging schedule and notifies the Patient Access Manager or MRI technologists of any problems or issues with the MRI schedule.
Enters Radiologist Reports into the patient charts in a timely manner and monitors report turnaround times.
Works closely with the physicians’ staff to ensure MRI patients are scheduled, pre-certed, and scanned in an efficient manner.
Verifies insurance coverage and benefits and obtains pre-certs for MRI exams as necessary.
Performs other related duties as assigned and serves in whatever other capacity deemed necessary for successful completion of the mission and goals of BROC.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to learn and perform computerized medical scheduling.
Prior experience in imaging scheduling preferred.
Knowledge of and experience with CPT and ICD-9 coding.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
