Over time, his style of content diversified to include challenge and donation videos that reward thousands of dollars, videos with arduous tasks or survival challenges, and original vlogs. Donaldson's main YouTube channel now has over 200 million subscribers. He also runs several other YouTube channels, including MrBeast Shorts. He was the highest paid Youtuber according to Forbes in 2022.
Jimmy’s long stated commitment to giving back is threaded through all of his content and remains a central pillar of his business philosophy. In addition to his stand alone philanthropy channel, one of the most important content formats on the MrBeast main channel focuses on acts of extraordinary kindness around the world. Examples include: 1,000 Deaf People Hear for the First time and 1,000 Blind People See For The First Time
About the Role
Producers ignite organizations in chaos and inspire the production team to do the same. This role requires someone with superior project management skills who takes charge and can make the hard calls. They can understand, decode and communicate in “creative” and then turn it into a plan for hands-on execution. This person clearly understands priorities, thrives on deadlines and is committed to doing the research and (often impossible) legwork to deliver the impossible.
For this role, our ideal candidate is a task master and problem solver ideally with international experience producing documentaries or unscripted film, tv or digital content.. You also know how to identify and capture relevant human interest stories as part of a charity or philanthropy mission. This person is adaptable and rises to the challenge under pressure while often working alone in remote locations around the world. This person also has the experience to know when to make adjustments and when to push back on high profile requirements that may derail a production timeline and/or budget.
Finally, this person must be coachable - ie able to meld their extensive knowledge and experience with our unique culture, proven processes and content formats.
What you’ll be doing:
- Collaborating with creatives on your team to understand their needs and decode the feasibility of every element required for a specific charity/giving focused human interest video.
- Working with your team to prioritize tasks based on established timelines in order to execute that production flawlessly
- Researching hard to find people, locations, and props around the world
- Negotiating with vendors, locations and other complex components for a video often in remote locations with limited connectivity - ie Africa, South America and other third world locations
- Working with the team on day to day tasks for the overall video
- Pitching options, visuals and specific human interest story candidates you’ve uncovered to creative
Requirements
What makes you a fit:
- Experience as a location producer (preferably international) with a high EQ
- Experience in video storytelling - ie sourcing unique, unexpected and emotional human interest stories in unusual places
- Tenacious phone skills - 5+ years experience picking up the phone, building relationships, and getting past the answer “no.”
- Understanding how to think creative/story first, production second
- Extremely organized with excellent communication skills
- Leadership instincts - ie the ability to grasp the big picture and a track record for creative but logical problem solving
- Previous experience creating video content for a documentary driven television network, film studio, production company or digital media company.
- Experience creating long form, successful video content for social media distribution a plus
