Motor Vehicle Inspector

Direct Auto is currently seeking an individual with mechanical knowledge to inspect vehicles purchased at auctions, as well as haul/transport a one-car trailer (not required, but preferred).

Job Description

The Motor Vehicle Inspector will be responsible for going to auctions and inspecting vehicles before and after purchase. The Motor Vehicle Inspector will be inspecting for physical condition/damages, as well as possible mechanical issues including, but not limited to: engine, transmission, suspension, power steering, electrical, ride quality, safety, etc.

This is not a mechanic position requiring you to complete all repairs, but mechanical knowledge is a MUST. Small off site repairs may be required. This is including, but not limited to, battery replacements, tire repair/changes, fluid fills, small part replacements, etc. These will mainly be to ensure the vehicle is safe and able to be transported by our in house team of drivers.

The Motor Vehicle Inspector may also be responsible for hauling a one-car trailer, as well as loading and unloading a vehicle. Truck and trailer will be provided. This is not required, but is a huge plus.

Some travel will be required based on business needs. Transportation and other accommodations are provided and/or reimbursed. Job hours, days, and travel/location are based on business needs.

Requirements

Strong general knowledge of vehicle mechanics.

Ability to perform some small repairs offsite.

Valid driver's license and good driving record. MVR will be accessed.

Time management skills and an attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as a team.

Ability to proficiently load and tow a one car hauler is a plus.

Schedule and Compensation

This is a 4-5 day work week, primarily on weekdays. Weekends based on business needs.
