By joining our Kentucky Motor Vehicle Commission as a Motor Vehicle Dealer District Administrator in Jefferson County, you’ll have the opportunity to inspect licensed dealer facilities and work to protect consumers from fraudulent activities.
Holders of the Motor Vehicle Dealer District Administrator position will complete tasks such as:
  • Inspect applicants/licensees within a specified territory at least once each calendar year.
  • Inspect applicants for monthly agenda.
  • Gather information/evidence on which warning letters/citations/complaints are issued.
  • Confirm compliance.
  • Testify on behalf of agency in court/hearings as necessary.
  • Act as agency liaison with agency applicants/licensees, law enforcement personnel, and public
Holders of this job will obtain the following skills:
  • Employee will be trained on conducting inspections of car dealerships.
  • Employee will be trained to conduct special investigations in response to complaints.
  • Strong communicative skills both written and verbal.
  • Customer service skills.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have four years of experience in law enforcement or a related field, or experience in the wholesale or retail sale of Motor Vehicles.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Education in law enforcement or a related field will substitute for the required experience, not to exceed two years.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Work may be performed in an office setting or via vehicle; extensive travel may be required based on location.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
