Mortgage Consultant accepts applicants, primarily via agent referrals, then gathers financial information and consults with applicants to guide them through the loan process in collaboration with loan processors, underwriters, and closing coordinators.
Essential Functions
Prospect, develop and maintain relationships with potential new business referral partners such as realtors, builders, bank colleagues and the community at large.
Analyze applicants' financial status, credit, and other necessary information to determine feasibility of granting loans
Answer applicant questions about the loan process via in-person meetings, phone, or email
Obtain and assemble information including loan applicants' credit histories, and other relevant financial information to the loan granting process by communicating with the applicants
Ensure accuracy of loan application before sending applications to loan processors
Communicate different loan and credit options to applicants in the context of each customers individual situation
Engage in each branch office Sales Meetings to develop new business opportunities for SCMS and educate on new product offerings
Review final closing statements for accuracy and communicate closing statements with customers
Knowledge of programs, guidelines and processes to deliver professional experience
- 5+ years of experience in real estate, mortgage origination or lending required.
- Current NMLS State License or Federal NMLS Registration required.
- Knowledge of FHA, VA, USDA, conventional, fixed/adjustable loans, Bridge Loans, Non-Confirming Loans, FNMA and FHLMC and Home Equity Lines of Credit.
- Understanding of loan originator/proprietary software.
- Bachelors Degree in business, finance, banking, real estate or a related field highly preferred.
Work Context
Employees in this position are centralized in branch offices and also meet with clients at varying locations. Mortgage consultants also communicate with clients during evening and weekend hours.
