Morning Baker/Pastry Assistant

Sweet Eden Bakeshop in Severn, MD is looking for one morning baker to join our 6 person team. We are located on 2604-A Annapolis Rd. Our ideal candidate is reliable, punctual, self motivated and a good team player.

The primary goal of Sweet Eden Bakeshop is to provide the highest quality baked goods in a friendly yet sophisticated atmosphere. The Morning Baker prepares batters, and decorates products for the Bakery cases and custom items for special orders. You will also be up front helping customers for part of your shifts.

Qualifications:

High school Diploma or equivalent

Serv Safe Sanitation Certification preferred

Baking Certificate, degree or at least 2 years of related work experience are a plus

Must:

• Be punctual and dependable
• Possess a strong sense of teamwork
• Listen and communicate from verbal and written instructions
• Multitask while paying special attention to detail
• Have great time management skills
• Be available between the hours of 6am-4pm on Tuesday-Saturday
• Be able to lift, stack, and maneuver objects that may weigh 30 to 50 pounds.
• The ability to work efficiently at a fast pace and self-regulate
• Work Cooperatively with others and independently
• Maintain superior Customer Service standards
• Take special orders from guests over the phone and in person
• Consult with customers to discuss cake designs and ideas

Essential Job Functions (may include but are not limited to):

• Abide by all Bakeshop policies and procedures
• Follow and convert recipes for small and large batch production
• Portion and bake, cupcakes, cookies, cakes, cheesecakes, muffins and more
• Frost cupcakes, make/fill French Macarons, decorate cake pops and some cakes
• Fill, frost decorate cakes with buttercream icing and sometimes fondant
• Writes free hand messages on cakes using pastry bags and tips
• Properly weigh, mix batters, and produce fillings, icings, and custards from scratch
• Assist other departments when necessary (you will be cross-trained)
• Cleaning tasks- keep kitchen and prep areas clean, swept, mopped, wash dishes, wipe tables, etc.
• Maintain high standards of product freshness by following HACCP guidelines for storing, handling, and labeling food
• Conduct inventory, count, label and put supplies away as needed
• Assist with the delivery and set up of wedding cakes as needed

Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $15.00 - $16.00/hour.
