Orchid Montessori School will open its doors in the fall of 2024, serving children ages 1.5-9 (toddler, preschool, kindergarten, and lower elementary) in West Warwick, RI. We are seeking an experienced toddler or primary teacher and a classroom assistant to join our program.
Our Program
Orchid’s program has been designed through a unique collaboration between experienced Montessori educators, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and parents of children with diverse learning needs. We envision a school community with a focus on inclusion, embracing children regardless of their race, class, ethnicity, or learning profile.
Our Network
Orchid Montessori School is a part of Wildflower Schools, a network of small, teacher-led, authentic Montessori learning environments serving children from infancy through high school. The Wildflower model combines time-tested Montessori methods with promising new practices in family partnership, teacher empowerment, and intentional diversity. At Wildflower, we believe that embracing equity is an essential part of our work. We are committed to deeply engaging in what Maria Montessori called “the preparation of self” as it pertains to understanding our implicit biases, blind spots, and prejudices.
Your Role
In collaboration with other Orchid team members, your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing and presenting large and small group lessons
- Preparing and maintaining classroom environment and outdoor space
- Supervising lunch, recess, rest time, and aftercare as needed
- Assisting children with meals, self-care, and toileting as needed
- Student record -keeping, family engagement & support
Experience: Lead Teacher
- At least two years of Montessori or early childhood teaching experience required.
- Montessori toddler or primary credential preferred. Training sponsorship may be available for the right candidate.
- Eligibility for lead teacher certification through RI DHS is required.
Experience: Teaching Assistant
- At least one year of experience in early childhood education and care is preferred.
- All candidates must be at least 18 years of age and eligible for assistant teacher certificaton through RI DHS.

Hours & Benefits
This position could be part-time or full-time for the right candidate. Salary is commensurate with experience.
