Job Description
As a Mold Machine Set-up Operator, you will plan and perform set-up on non-progressive, single and multiple cavity, single stage compression molding machine, preform, and trimming presses required in the forming, fabrication, and laminating of rubber and silicon diaphragms. The Mold Set-up Operator checks machines at start of shift or as directed by management to ensure that they are safe for operation. applies grease/oil as required to assure proper operation of preform, mold and trim presses. The Mold Set-up Operator also makes minor repairs to die sets, polishes/repairs scratches and nicks, and replaces or changes date codes, pins, bushings, and guides.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Select die/mold sets according to job, place and align on platen and ram.
- Bolt clamp or secure die/mold members in place.
- Set speeds, releases, pressures, stroke, stops, temperatures, dwell times and adjusts knockout devices, switches and detectors.
- Make necessary machine/tool adjustments to assure compliance with part specifications.
- Adjust/install safety devices.
- Clean a variety of tools, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures.
- Work at Engineers direction on tool repair and new tooling.
- Responsible for die/mold storage and related record-keeping.
- May be required to periodically operate preform, compression molding machines and trim presses to produce parts.
- Maintain established quality and quantity standards.
- Follow prescribed safety precautions, established company policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions.
- Maintain work areas in a clean orderly and safe condition.
- Perform similar or other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED/equivalent
- Able to understand and follow job instructions
- Excellent attention to detail
- Able to wear required protective clothing on arms, hands, etc.
- Uses vision to assess product quality
- Able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
We are offering $20.00 per hour after training, operating on 2nd shift on a 9/80 schedule: 3:30pm-1:00am, with every other Friday off. Training pays $19.00 per hour, operating on 1st shift 5:00am-2:30pm. Once hired permanently, you will be eligible for full benefits package (medical, dental, 401k, PTO and bonuses based on company performance).
