Gordon Truck Centers, Inc. (GTC) is now accepting applications for a Mobile Fleet Service Manager for the southern region of our dealership network. We are currently looking for qualified applicants in the Albany, OR or Ridgefield, WA areas.

The Mobile Fleet Service Manager is responsible for the proper flow of the regional Mobile Fleet technicians to ensure that we are exceeding customer’s expectations with accurate and timely repairs. This means prioritizing and assigning the correct techs to the jobs then following through until completion. Communicating well with the service advisors, techs, and customers is a must. Also responsible for working with drivers, owners, and shop management to schedule equipment for repairs.  Must have a strong technical background and be capable of writing detailed repair estimates.  Must have the ability to call customers and advise of needed repairs, update repair costs as required and close repair orders as directed. 

 

  • Lead diesel technicians through organizing and overseeing the work activities to ensure customer needs are being met (includes payroll timekeeping responsibilities, including mobile/road billing) 
  • Manage all customer dedicated technicians to ensure profitability and quality work 
  • Cultivate and grow relationships with customers in targeted areas for onsite and mobile growth 
  • Communicate directly and effectively with leadership team 
  • Intake customer requests and determine the extent of what’s needed to structure a schedule in such a way as to allow service technicians to effectively execute repairs   
  • Open and close repair orders, enter other work as needed. Use OEM software programs to determine truck’s warranty status and review unit’s history to identify reoccurring problems or repairs. Evaluate for other needed repairs or recalls needed 
  • Effectively manage parts and support distribution of the parts to reduce technician’s downtime 
  • Ensure mobile technicians are compliant on all required training and safety requirements. 
  • Communicate with drivers & owners regarding status of repairs, parts on order, etc.  
  • Use good judgment to maintain a safe & organized work environment.  
  • Develop and grow position
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Education:  High school diploma or equivalent preferred.   

Experience: 4 years repair shop experience as technician or 2 years shop experience and 2 years’ service advisor or shop foreman experience, preferred. 

Skills:  Must be professional and safety minded at all times.  Excellent communication both verbal and written, listening skills.  Good customer service skills, general PC skills, conflict resolution skill set. Ability to prioritize and multi-task.  Able to work with minimal supervision and direction.  Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.  

Other:  Truck driving experience and/or CDL helpful but not required.  

 

JOB CONDITIONS: 

Physical: (These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.)Will be up and down from desk extensively during work shift. Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time. Extensive use of telephone, computer and keyboard. Bending, stretching, some heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds on occasion) may be required. 

Environmental: Primarily indoors with some outdoor work.  High noise level.  Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. 

Hours:  This position is primarily Monday - Friday, Dayshift.
