With the support of the Bakery Operations Supervisor, the Mixing Assistant Lead is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating activities in the Mixing Dept. when the Lead is out. Responsible for monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness of the department. Assuring that the highest quality dough mixes are processed to specified standards. Assuring that the scheduled batches are prepared for line processing; monitoring that sufficient ingredients are available for preparing targeted batches. Monitoring that mixing employees are executing their job functions to expectations. Lead by Example, treat your team with respect, do things without being told; find out what you need to know; have the ability to keep going when things get tough, and spot and take advantage of opportunities that others pass by. act and take the opportunity to train instead of reacting.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review daily production schedule for accuracy of batches and products to be prepared.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate activities for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assigned job tasks to subordinates. Monitor and maintain control of the quantity of starter on the floor and additional starter required for the following shifts.
  • Verify that finished dough mixes are to the target temperature.
  • Verify that dough batches are being mixed to time and temperature specifications.
  • Visually and physically feel the dough texture for proper characteristics.
  • Monitor that ingredients are manually prepared to specifications (olives, onions, peppers potatoes, etc.)
  • Maintain ingredients inventory control using the oldest ingredients first, “FIFO”.
  • Verify that records are being recorded accurately, legibly, and timely.
  • Assure that all documents are being completed at the end of the shift and placed in their designated place.
  • Monitor the organization of cooler and mixing areas for performing job tasks safely.
  • Assure mixing equipment is maintained in good sanitation and safety conditions.
  • Comprehension of GMPs and Lockout/Tagout Procedures.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
  • Works to maintain and improve the quality, legality, and safety of each product and the processes used in their manufacture. Responsible for keeping assigned work area clean and tidy at all times and reporting any potential contamination and suspicious activity to a Supervisor immediately.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to organize, plan, direct, and coordinate subordinate activities in the most efficient and effective manner to obtain daily required batches.
  • Ability to function consistently within expected standards of operation, handling multiple tasks, executing job functions with interruptions, prioritizing job tasks, and dealing effectively with mechanical and employee challenges. Ability to give clear and precise directions and instructions to subordinates.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division), plus basic percentage calculations.
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written (English).Basic writing and spelling skills (English). Ability to write clearly and legibly.
  • Ability to understand and operate the mixing process controls on the mixers and starter tanks. Ability to understand scaling and temperature readout data.
  • Record data entries accurately and timely. Ability to perform well under pressure and time constraints.
  • Ability to pull approximately 1000 lbs. mixing bowls with wheels.

 

Shift: 3rd (10:00 pm to 6:30 am.)

Hourly Rate: $21.16 -$22.91

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed In this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
