MIDDLE SCHOOL/JUNIOR HIGH CAREER DEVELOPMENT FACILITATOR
Position Summary:
Identity, develop, and deliver career readiness information, opportunities, events, and resources for district students, educators, and families.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree required
- Valid MI Teaching Certificate (6-12 endorsed) or Counseling Certificate Required
- Global Career Development Facilitator Certificate or Certified Career Services Provider Certificate preferred
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
Essential Functions and Tasks:
- Develop and lead a Career Readiness Team at each building
- Facilitate EDP process/implementation of Xello and Pathful Connect to meet district targets
- Use Xello data to provide meaningful experiences for students in terms of organizing and implementing Career Day, classroom speakers, and other experiences.
- Collaborate and develop a system to bridge the gap between Xello data and class opportunities and course selection
- Increase opportunities for students to explore and prepare for their future
- Collaborate to develop a district-wide framework for collecting, analyzing, and responding to student interest, perception, and outlook data.
- Conduct outreach to grow a database of industry partners in the community
- Builds and sustains community relationships to create meaningful student learning experiences.
- Create and organize a catalog of internships, job shadow opportunities, and work experiences for students and liaisons between school and outside internship partners.
- Provide students with information on Pre-Apprenticeship and Apprenticeship Readiness programs including application cycles and application information.
- Create a strong student culture around career exploration and internships aligned to career pathways.
- Facilitate career readiness services to support the initiatives outlined in the MI Career Development Model
- Participate in the design and presentation of career readiness events and resources for students, staff, and parents
- Maintain effective working relationships with Oakland Schools K-12 Career Readiness Consultant
- Attend Oakland Schools Career Development Practitioner meetings and other relevant professional learning opportunities
- Assist in the development and implementation of a District K-12 Career Readiness plan
- Collaborate with building counseling staff on school and district events that promote and support career readiness
- Regularly update staff and community regarding Career Development opportunities and activities
- Support Clarkston Virtual during peak times
Salary
