SALARY COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: This position is paid in accordance with the Greenville Education Association Master Agreement
JOB SUMMARY: Help students learn Language Arts skills that will contribute to their educational and social development. Teach the required curriculum as adopted by the Board of Education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: other duties may be assigned
- Teaches content and skills in English language, literature, composition, reading, and journalism to Middle School students, utilizing curriculum designated by Greenville Public Schools
- Adapts English material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments and lesson plans that guide and challenge students
- Develop lesson plans and supplemental materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students
- Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a multidisciplinary team of professionals focused on student achievement
- Evaluates student academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports
- Identifies student needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans
- Available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day
- Exceptional use of technology as a teaching tool
- Highest level of integrity and professionalism both in and out of the classroom
- Flexibility in schedule and teaching methods
- Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Highly qualified to teach Middle School students at all grade levels
- Well-versed in best practice instruction methods
- Expertise in differentiated learning
- Exceptional passion for teaching and learning
- High aptitude for forming positive relationships with colleagues, students, and parents
- Ability to deliver high quality lessons focused on student growth and state standards
- Ability to analyze student achievement data and use it for lesson design and delivery in the classroom
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
- Language Arts endorsement (BA or BX)
