MIDDLE SCHOOL COUNSELOR (1.0 FTE)
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Counseling
- Ability to meet Michigan certification (NT endorsement) or a School Counselor License (SCL)
- Minimum of three years experience as a Middle School Counselor (preferred)
- Ability to build effective and positive professional relationships with students, parents, and staff
- Ability to effectively collaborate with the counseling team and Middle School staff
- Willingness and commitment to participate in curriculum development, school improvement committees, and professional development opportunities
- Ability to motivate and inspire students
- Willingness and commitment to include equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practices
- Comprehensive knowledge of state and national assessments including M-STEP, NWEA-MAP, and PSAT
- Ability to actively participate on the building Student Assistance Team (SAT)
- Ability to support and coordinate building social emotional learning program (TRAILS to Wellness)
- Training in Trauma Informed Strategies and Restorative Practices (or willingness to be trained)
- Ability to support students in the creation and development of their Educational Development Plans (EDP's)
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (written, verbal, and listening skills)
- Excellent academic, social, and emotional counseling of students
- Ability to coordinate programs and partnerships: Testing Out, Online Learning, Summer School
- Understanding of the Section 504 process and requirements
- Ability to organize and manage numerous tasks and responsibilities simultaneously
- Willingness to perform other duties as assigned
