Position Summary

The Middle &High School Test Prep Teacher will be responsible for teaching Tutorverse curricula in-person in Manhattan to both groups of and individual students (about 50% of time). The Teacher will also be responsible for assisting with the administration of educational programming (roughly 50% of total annual time).

Like a traditional teaching role, this position includes a summer vacation period. In addition, educators can expect the support and resources appropriate of the private programs they will be instructing.

The ideal candidate is an experienced classroom teacher who not only has experience interacting with a diverse group of students and parents, but who is also fluent in math and ELA Test Prep through the SAT/ACT.

Responsibilities

  • Implement Tutorverse Test Prep math and ELA curricula for middle and High School students during after-school hours and weekends throughout Manhattan locations (in-person) and online (remote).
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring to students in similar content areas throughout Manhattan locations and online.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships and rapport with parents, students, staff, and partners, maintaining a focus on client service.
  • Assist with the implementation, documentation, and improvement of key business processes, including data aggregation, analysis, reporting, and action.

Minimum Qualifications

Interested? Awesome! We're looking for someone who possesses:

  • at least a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, preferably in education or a related field;
  • 3+ years' experience teaching in both in-person and online classroom settings;
  • 3+ years' previous experience teaching the SHSAT, ISEE, and/or SAT;
  • ability to teach in-person in Manhattan;
  • subject-matter expertise in elementary, middle, and High School ELA, including knowledge of grade-level standards;
  • excellent communication, collaboration, and people skills and instincts;
  • inexhaustible drive, energy, enthusiasm, and mental agility;
  • proven verbal and written communication skills, including a thorough command of the English language
  • intermediate-level proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace;
  • minimum typing speed of 65 words per minute

Preferred Qualifications

Extra credit for someone who has:

  • 5+ years' experience teaching in both in-person and online classroom settings;
  • administrative experience managing classroom rosters, student information and data, and liaising with parents, students, and partners;
  • demonstrable project management skills and commitment to quality and timeliness;
  • unexpired NYS teaching certification; unexpired NYC DOE/DOH fingerprinting and authorization
  • expert-level proficiency in MS Office;
