Acara Solutions and our large defense client in Manassas, VA have a contract to direct hire position available (Flex schedule available)
Mid-Level Software Engineer
- Develop new software components in Java, C, C++, and Python to meet program needs
- Integrate COTS tools, including open-source products and API-driven integration efforts
- Containerize existing applications and deploy them using a tool like Docker or Podman
- Build multi-tier software solutions, including database design and integration, identification and authentication, and data capture
- Perform thorough unit testing of software components to prepare for integration in a larger system
- Conduct software component integration to ensure end-to-end system functionality prior to formal testing
- Participate in various technical and program meetings on a weekly basis with both internal and external professionals
- Research, identify, and evaluate new technologies for adoption by the Navy
Required Skills / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, or Science, or Engineering or Mathematics.
- Minimum of 5 years Software development experience using Java (JAVAFX), Spring, C/C++, Python, and other languages in a Linux environment.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in writing, testing, and deploying production-quality software
- Minimum of 5 years experience using Linux (basic OS comprehension and basic shell scripting), Red Hat or derivatives
- Minimum of 5 years experience with open-source software and custom software, as well as integration between software applications using middle tier integration and data-driven models
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- Agile experience.
- Knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including configuration management, good coding practices.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies on Linux OS (Docker, Podman, k8s, RKE2)
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices
- Knowledge of Agile/DevOPs methodologies
- Technical problem-solving ability for large and complex software systems
