Your Role:  The GIS Analyst is responsible for leading the planning, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of GIS data in accordance with the requirements of various projects acquired or assigned by Tetra Tech's public/private/federal clients. Candidates must be knowledgeable with ESRI's software products. 

Responsibilities:  The GIS Analyst will play a key role in supporting Project Managers with planning and design projects for a variety of municipal, state and federal clients throughout Florida and the Southeast region.  Major duties/responsibilities of the position include:

 

  • Working with a project team to support a variety of municipal, state and federal projects.

  • Being responsible for report assistance, presentations, and mapping for a variety of environmental, utility, and water resources projects.

  • Effectively communicate and coordinate other project team members and disciplines.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and deploy mobile GIS solutions as part of project team.

  • Build, update, and maintain enterprise geodatabases and data, with guidance.

  • Create maps and graphs, using GIS software and related equipment for distribution.

  • Update and query database, applying additional knowledge of spatial feature representations.

  • Conduct Research to locate and obtain existing databases.

  • Analyze spatial data for geographic statistics to incorporate into documents and reports.

  • Prepare metadata and other documentation.
  • Conduct Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments
  • Occasional travel to client sites and other locations to conduct sampling, site visits, etc.  These sites may be outside, exposing the candidate to weather conditions and varying terrain.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

    • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Environmental Sciences or related field.

    • Masters degree in GIS or a related field will be considered for two years of related experience.

    • Ideal candidates will have strong knowledge of ESRI software and a passion for GIS technologies and solutions.

    • Energetic with ability to overcome obstacles to complete a task safely and efficiently.

    • Strong understanding of GPS technology.

    • Understanding of geodatabase structure and capabilities

    • Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.

    • Effective time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.

    • Valid state driver license in good standing

    Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Physical demands of this position are limited to office work and some field work.  Field work may include walking over uneven or rough terrain, some lifting, and safely managing exposure to a range of temperatures and possible wet weather.  Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided to safely work in the field. 

    Language & Communication Skills: Effective oral and written communication are essential to this position.  Must be fluent in the English language; both in speaking and writing.  Report and proposal writing for a range of projects is required.

    Other Skills:  Candidate must have the ability to work well in a professional and team-oriented environment, as well as independently. Candidate should possess strong organizational skills and be client focused. Must possess basic computer skills; the computer skills must include proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel. Must be proficient with ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise software. This position is ideal for a motivated individual to grow as the GIS business line grows.
