Job description

The Microenterprise Program Developer is responsible for creating a curriculum designed to guide refugees who wish to start a business in Springfield, MO.
This position is a full-time temporary position that runs from March 1, 2024, to September 30, 2024.
Duties/Responsibilities

  • Learn about the local processes and procedures for traditional small business models.
  • Research resource and tools that already exist in the community and determine how to help non-English Speakers access those resource.
  • Develop tools to assist refugees to navigate the legal steps to starting their own business.
  • Create a video-based curriculum utilizing interpreters to provide information in the spoken language of refugees residing in Southwest Missouri.
  • Act as a liaison in building and strengthening relationships between organizations, financial institutions, and service providers.
  • Provide bi-weekly updates to the IISMO Director on program development.
  • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Experience working within an administrative, social service setting is preferred.
  • Excellent team and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with refugee programs is helpful.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, and comfortability in learning new systems is needed.
  • Ability to work in an environment that is multicultural and multilingual.
  • Ability to initiate and lead projects, with little assistance.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team as necessary.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of company information.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree with at least one year of relevant work experience required or equivalent.
  • prefer experience working in refugee services field and/or public benefits.
