Microbiology Technologist

Altru Diagnostics, a sister company of MedScan Laboratory, is a CLIA-certified Houston-based Reference laboratory.

Our Molecular laboratory is currently hiring for an entry-level position of MicrobiologyTechnologist, who will be responsible for the following activities:

• Culture and grows microorganisms from various sources
• Performs daily/weekly/monthly maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Performs quality control checks for reagents, media as needed
• Willing to perform Proficiency testing
• Prepares and adheres to safety protocols and SOPs
• Document new methods and observations
• Willing to cross-train with different departments (Molecular and Clinical)
• Participates in monthly laboratory meetings

Qualifications:

• General knowledge of microbiological laboratory techniques
• Must have a minimum bachelor of science in biological sciences, microbiology, or a closely related field
• Must have knowledge and experience in Microbiology Setting/Laboratory
• Pays close attention to detail and must be a quick learner
• An M(ASCP) is not a must, but the individual must qualify for taking the exam within one year of employment

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule: Evening Shift- 12 pm to 8 pm from Wednesday to Sunday

Pay Rate: $ 25.00
