The Microbiology Lab Technician is a results orientated person that produces high quality defensible analytical data, safely and on time in our ISO Accredited Food Microbiology laboratoryThe Analyst I performs sample preparation and sample set up for both quantitative and qualitative microbiology workflowsThis position will grow to gain full knowledge to performing food microbiological procedures to include indicator organisms and rapid PCR assaysPerforms basic / advanced sample preparationSamples in a food micro laboratory might include food ingredients, ready to eat foods, pet food, agricultural products such as grains and legumesPerforms basic microbiological analysis to include indicator organisms such as Aerobic Colony Count, Coliforms, E.coli, Staphylococcus, Yeast and MoldMay involve long periods of standingSome lifting and carrying (up to 10 kgs)Requires flexible working hours, overtime and shift workHazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)Tuesday through saturday or Sunday throiugh thursday shift. 9-5.. out time is flexible depending out when samples are completed.
