GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Our QC Laboratory offers a unique and challenging opportunity for a Microbiologist. This key position is responsible for the completion of microbiological and biological laboratory functions to ensure timely release of dietary supplements, raw dietary ingredients, finished products, stability samples, process water and environmental monitoring. Maintains documentation of all testing and related activities.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Performs required microbiological testing for all samples submitted to the laboratory as indicated in dietary supplement and dietary ingredient specifications, or as requested. Uses official documented test methods, such as BAM, AOAC, FCC, USP, and others.

• Development and Validation of microbiological methods (includes writing and approving protocols and final reports).

• Maintenance of bacterial culture reference samples or controls, as necessary.

• Testing water systems to ensure water quality is maintained.

• Perform testing of environmental samples.

• Testing raw, in-process, and finished product.

• Handles and prepares reagents, media, and solutions.

• Troubleshoot laboratory instruments, methods and samples.

• Review and interpretation of data analysis, including data trending

• Review and approves specifications and methods at the discretion of the department manager.

• Communicate/participate in feedback and problem-solving.

• Perform Laboratory investigations and develop corrective actions for any deviations and OOS in laboratory testing and operations.

• Performs other duties as assigned.


WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in an FDA regulated micro laboratory.

• Microbiology laboratory with experience in USP / EP microbiological testing, ISO, AOAC.

• Experience in development and validation of routine USP / EP micro test methods such as Prep test, microbial limits test, and probiotics evaluations

• Experience in training laboratory personnel in general laboratory tasks.

• Must possess exceptional organizational and communication skills.

• Mastery of sterile technique and microbiology laboratory safety.

• Must be self-motivated with the ability to be a quick learner, resolve problems and issues in a fast-paced Laboratory environment.

• Must be able to adjust in a startup/changing environment.

• Possess the ability to work efficiently with co-workers as well as autonomously


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• A minimum of B/S degree in Microbiology or related science with a preferred advance degree in microbiology.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office products and other software’s as they apply to a Microbiology Lab.
