This position will actively support food safety and quality assurance through the use, and validation of, pathogen detection products. The analyst will prepare and evaluate samples using aseptic technique to ensure products meet specifications. The products being monitored are crucial to maintaining consumer safe food supply chains. Work is performed as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct Analysis of products using traditional microbiological techniques such as dilution, pour plating, and filtration
- Perform a wide range of general molecular/microbiology related test methods such as sterility testing, plate counting, and pathogen identification
- Prepare sterile lab media used to conduct testing
- Participate in general laboratory cleaning and maintenance in support of a safe workspace
- BS degree in Biology, Microbiology, or related science
- Some experience with microbiology lab techniques such as pipetting, preparing media, pouring agar, streak plating, etc.
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Effective problem solving skills
- Good work ethic
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Detail oriented
