Job Title: Manager, Quality Assurance

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary Range: $100,000.00-$145,000.00

Summary

Manages the Quality Assurance department which includes Document Control Center, Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Material Review Board. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these groups. Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System through the development of policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to industry, regulatory, customer and corporate requirements. Monitors and audits processes against established standards and conducts a continuous analysis of quality defects and deviations. Optimizes processes to comply with existing and new regulatory requirements.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities include the following with other duties as assigned:

  • Ensures the processes needed for the Quality Management System are maintained, kept current and in compliance with AS9100 and Regulatory Compliance
  • Fills the role of management representative for the QMS per AS9100 as defined by the standard
  • Manages the Supplier Quality process for Quick response, effective corrective actions, and Audit findings
  • Manages the MRB process in an effective and time sensitive manner to keep incoming parts and made parts flowing, while reducing product scrap
  • Leads the CAPA process through organization to include maintaining, improvement, training, and metrics
  • Represents QA at monthly executive reviews and operation reviews
  • Create a strategic direction for the department to achieve the business goals in conjunction with corporate goals.
  • Lead the strategic quality initiative by providing guidance to managers and department members.
  • Provide guidance for enacting processes to solve problems and meet changing regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Cooperate with other top management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures, and goals.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and present information concerning the performance of the Quality Management System including, but not limited to: risks to regulatory compliance, quality input on new product designs and development processes, production capabilities, manufacturing defects, and other factors affecting system and product quality to the Executive management team.
  • Review technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
  • Responsible for financial reporting as it relates to the functional area.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all employees understand the importance of complying with internal control objectives.


Requirements:

  • AS9100/ISO9001 experience
  • Thorough understanding of 8D/PSP and/or other Root Cause Analysis
  • Bachelor's (B.A.) from 4-year college/university equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in an Aerospace environment
  • 5+ years management/leading quality teams
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing organization may be considered satisfactory


Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

General Qualifications

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
