DEPARTMENT:Network Services - Topeka General Office, Telecom Services, or Wichita Systems Center
LOCATION: Topeka, KS Kansas City, MO Wichita, KS
Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Other hours as required). This role will be a combination of remote and in office work, with the ability to attend meetings on-site as appropriate. Candidates who are performing work remotely must live in Kansas or Missouri.
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities: We're investing in our network to improve how our employees work and communicate. This role will operationalize our constantly evolving data and voice communications technology and contribute to the execution of our network technology roadmap. This is pivotal to achieve our future state connectivity architecture. You will be in charge of facilitating further planning, build and operating and the operation of a network that is robust and scalable for growth to our business.
Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Collaborates with architects, partners, customers and peers to ensure network design remains optimal for Evergy strategy. Oversight of build and deployment strategies via combination of managed partners, internal staff and staff augmentation. Management of network resource teams and budgets associated to including areas such as fiber, data center, field, voice, etc. Manages both direct and indirect resources in the monitoring and maintenance of the operation of district LAN, WAN, and voice systems; assists resources with conducting routine diagnostic tests and makes site visits in response to user reports in order to investigate, define and resolve operating problems. Multiple data centers with remote locations (office, substation, service center, etc..) throughout Eastern Kansas and Western Missouri. Oversee team of approximately fifteen to twenty employees and contractor. Familiarity with fiber, copper, microwave, and wireless mediums. Ensures the expeditious resolution of network-level communications problems to ensure users continuous access to all available networks. Coordinates the installation and configuration of hardware (e.g., switches, firewalls, routers, servers, telephone switches, SBC's, microcomputers, peripherals), data and voice circuits, and associated software. Works with finance and telecommunications providers to secure the highest quality products and services at the lowest cost. Developing and implementing corrective action plans to mitigate impact to project schedules and overall business objectives. Recommends for approval and manages appropriate policies and guidelines to deliver a robust yet secure and efficient messaging environment. Manages direct and dotted line general technical and information technology employees as warranted. Maintaining excellent communication with functional team members and direct management to ensure early identification of issues a timely reporting of status.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent experience
Minimum of 8 years of related IT, networking, security, data, or voice related experience
Requires 5 years of proven leadership experience.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of and experience with management (theory and practice)
Strong leadership skills, planning and organizational skills
Business collaboration and business financial and human resource acumen
Knowledge of Networking concepts and Cisco based data and voice technology (e.g., DNA, ISE, UCCE, Wifi, Private fiber, leased circuits, etc..)
