Job Title: Commercial Loan Underwriter

Location: Main Branch

Status: Full-Time (40 hours)

Reports to: Director of Commercial Lending

Position Purpose

Review documentation for Commercial Loan applications and perform a thorough analysis of financial and credit information to determine the viability of request within the parameters of established policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory standards. Analyze balance sheets, personal financial statements, tax returns, income statements, cash flow statements, and additional data utilizing trend, ratio, leverage, projections, and stress techniques to determine the adequacy of repayment sources. Review relevant documents to determine the viability of proposed collateral, including appraisals, evaluations, leases, title reports, and other pertinent information.

Essential Duties, Skills & Abilities

• Analyze and evaluate loan applications to determine creditworthiness and risk.
• Review financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant documents to make lending decisions.
• Ensure compliance with credit union policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements.
• Monitor the performance of loans contained within the Commercial Loan portfolio and implement necessary measures as required.
• Communicate with loan officers and other department members to gather information and clarify loan details.
• Assist in performing Annual Reviews of existing loans in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Review loan documents and credit memos for accuracy and appropriateness prior to closing and subsequent to signing as required.
• Assist in the development and implementation of credit policies and procedures.
• Stay up to date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
• Basic computer operating skills such as email, Microsoft Office, etc.

• Attend meetings as required.

• Other duties as assigned.

Experience

Minimum of 2 years of experience in Commercial Loan underwriting or similar experience.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong understanding of commercial lending regulations and compliance.

SBA underwriting, packaging, and servicing experience preferred.

Education

Bachelor's degree in a business-related field preferred.

Additional coursework in business, finance, or accounting is preferred.
