Barfield is part of the Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) network, a major MRO provider. With a workforce of 14,000, AFI KLM E&M offers technical support for airlines, ranging from airframe maintenance to engine overhaul and repair and supply of components.
Position: Metrology Technician
Department: Applicable Shop to skill set
Report to: Operations/Production
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for calibration on all units in Barfield, maintaining work records and documentation on all test equipment, generating Certificates of Compliance/Traceability, and verifying that all work is performed in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations.
- Remove or transfer units as needed in accordance with Barfield procedures.
- Place new units in service with the necessary documentation provided by engineering.
- Purchase of replacement units or equivalent equipment with the approval of engineering.
- Assigning E# (folders) to all new units in accordance with engineering documentation.
- Maintain existing E# folders for units in Barfield (up-dates, modifications, etc.).
- Send units to authorized vendors for calibration / repair as needed.
- Notify Shop Inspectors & Shop Supervisors at all 3 Barfield locations (DOR 1, DOR 2 & MIA) of units’ due for calibration in the upcoming month.
- Inspection of all units due calibration and monitoring to ensure that test equipment used at Barfield is properly calibrated and certified within the time intervals specified by Engineering.
- Maintain calibration database for all test equipment within our ERP system Quantum.
- Ensure all Barfield primary & secondary standards used for calibration and certification of test equipment at Barfield are traceable to NIST and sent to outside certifying labs periodically, in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
- Schedule on-site calibration by an external lab on a month-to-month basis and ensure all calibration is done in accordance with Barfield procedure.
- Report test equipment that is found out of tolerance to the Quality Department.
- Perform minor repairs of various test equipment.
- High School diploma or vocational education
- 2 to 3 years of experience in the field of Metrology or technical background(Ex. Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical)
- Familiar with standard test equipment and metrology lab
- Able to follow written instructions technical manuals or document
- FCC license a plus
- Basic Electro-mechanical skills
- Proficient computer skills including Outlook, record keeping, routine database activity, and word processing
- Should have good organizational skills
- Needs to able prioritized and organize assignments
- Good Communication skills
