Description
General Motors Warren Tech Center have needs for qualified Metal Model Makers in Pre-Production Machining, Design, Tooling and Stamping Operations . Metal Model Makers will be working under minimal supervision and must provide a variety of services that support quality pre-production vehicle development and research activities. Services include tool design and build, part fabrication, body-in-white weld tools, research projects, test lab fixtures, CMM and Scanner support.
Primary Responsibilities:
Follow established safety procedures according to OSHA standards and company procedures
Part and Fixture inspection/GD&T
Operate CMM equipment & Scanning equipment
Conduct laser programming using Fast Trim software & Laser machine operation
Perform NX programming and CNC machining
Perform stamping operations – Blank Development, Die Tryout, Die Handling & Press operations
Perform die barbering and die surface finishing
Operate all metal working machines (e.g., grinding, drilling, milling, lathe, punch press, press brake, shearing and sheet metal qualifying)
Work with engineers and peers in a team environment
Conduct die and weld tool design using NX softwareUse Autoform, die face development and formability
Additional Description
Interested individuals must meet the following minimum qualifications:
At least six (6) years of related experience as a Metal Model Maker or a U.S Department of Labor Certificate of Completion as a Metal Model Maker.
Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which includes comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and a background check
At least 18 years of age
Eligible to work in the United States
Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day or afternoon shift as well as overtime hours daily and weekends on those shifts with little notice

- This position may be filled with a Journeyperson or Journeyperson In Training, the compensation ranges for a JIT include ($36.87 - 43.01) or Journeyperson rate of ($43.8). Certificates/credentials and scoring in interview will determine your status and pay.
General Motors UAW hourly employment offers a very competitive compensation and benefit package. An annual incentive payout is also available, as qualified.
