The Aerospace Corporation Defense Systems Group (DSG) serves as the technical and programmatic advisor to the United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) for acquiring, developing, and fielding capabilities for the United States Space Command and joint warfighter, as well as to maintain America's comprehensive military advantage in space.
As a MEO Missile Warning, Tracking & Defense Space Vehicle Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the transition to a new Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) MEO/LEO architecture. You'll oversee multiple USSF MEO spacecraft/subsystem design, development, integration & test, and launch & early orbit checkout activities to ensure success of these first-of-a-kind systems. This position entails providing both technical and programmatic support to current on-orbit demo risk reduction experiments and the Missile Track Custody program to deliver a successful MEO Epoch 1 Initial Warfighting Capability, while planning for follow-on Epoch increments.
Work Model: Telecommuting is possible 1-2 days per week depending on the needs of the program and customer.
What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide technical expertise to the Government program office customer while collaborating with SETA contractors and multiple development contractors
  • Review and evaluate design/verification artifacts such as technical requirements, use cases, test plans, analysis packages, CONOPS and operational procedures
  • Provide oversight and status of the Space Vehicle component manufacturing, assembly integration & test activities
  • Engage with ground development and system engineering teams to support the overall program execution and delivery timelines
  • Partner with Aerospace's functional experts to providing our customer with objective, data driven assessments
  • Assist in planning/implementing on-orbit experiments and mission information processing evaluations to reduce risk
  • Contribute to program meetings and technical forums, such as design reviews, technical interchanges, and program management reviews

What You Need to be Successful - Senior Member of Technical Staff
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or an appropriate technical subject area
  • Three or more years of increasingly responsible related professional engineering/scientific experience, including experience with space systems and systems engineering
  • Knowledge of Space Vehicle systems, launch system integration and on-orbit operations
  • Experience with Systems Engineering practices and processes
  • Strong collaboration skills to work well with Aerospace teammates and Government customers
  • Ability to handle multiple requests and tasks in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Active Secret clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to acquire a security clearance
  • Ability to travel up to 10 percent of the time

How You Can Stand Out

  • An advanced degree in engineering, science, or related field of study.
  • Spacecraft/Launch Vehicle development & integration or operations support experience
  • Familiarity with space based remote sensing systems
  • Expertise in navigating or developing MBSE and analytical models
  • Government Program Office experience or familiarly with National Security Space missions

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
