The Alfond Youth and Community Center is looking for a Mentor & Volunteer Programs Manager! We are looking for an enthusiastic and community-driven individual to help recruit and manage volunteers. The Mentor & Volunteer Programs Manager would also be running our mentor program for our after-school kids! This person would also be managing our mentor programs by pairing and overseeing mentors and the children.
POSITION SUMMARY: Recruit, hire, onboard, recognize, manage, and track the hours of all volunteers of the Alfond Youth & Community Center programs; ensuring that high end customer service and engagement are provided at all times. Volunteer positions to be developed and managed include but are not limited to coaches, mentors, tutors, greeters, and support for special events.
Oversee the Amp Up mentor program and staff and assist in coordinating the OJJDP mentor program currently offered in our afterschool program to increase youth social and academic engagement through various transformative mentoring models.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate all volunteer efforts across the organization under one program; including but not limited to the Unified Program, Athletics, Teen Programs, Afterschool Program, Summer Enrichment Program, Camps, Kitchen, Special Events, Wellness, and Facility Maintenance.
- Generate appropriate volunteering, mentoring, and internship opportunities and role descriptions based on AYCC’s needs.
- Recruit, conduct interviews, perform reference checks, and comply with background screens on volunteers and match volunteers to opportunities that suit their skills. Collect information on qualifications and skills on each volunteer.
- Develop and host volunteer recognition events and raise staff awareness of the role and the functions of AYCC volunteers
- Oversee and facilitate the day-to-day operations of AMP UP within the ASP/SEP; Monitor and support mentor/mentee matches throughout the year.
- Accomplish department and organizational objectives by managing staff and their performance, planning, scheduling and evaluating staff, recruiting, selecting, orienting and training staff, coaching employees to foster growth opportunities and completing required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Cultivate, develop and nurture relationships with parents, youth, community partners & members, board members, school administrators and mentors.
- Work closely with each department ensuring volunteer vacancies are being filled in a timely manner.
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday with occasional weekend hours dependent on AYCC events or training.

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is recommended.
- Working knowledge of MS Office including Publisher, Excel and database management.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working directly in youth development programs and/or administration as well as experience with community outreach, networking and collaboration.
- At least 1 year experience in the field of recruitment and/or volunteer management.
